BASS FACE
My name is Justin and I would love to let you know a little bit about myself, what I do, and how I do it.

I recently graduated from the University Of Toronto, after completing my final year of a Computer Science and African History/Anthropology Degree. Yup! it was a pretty crazy combination and I do not know of anyone who had done it before. I am 22 years old and have resided in Toronto for the past 5 years, solely for the purpose of getting my degree!

Walk it off...

My primary hobby is DJ’ing and Producing both Electronic music, primarily Breaks, Experimental, House, Drum and Bass, & Hardcore. My first release was on November 27th 2007, about 9 months after purchasing a set of ‘beginner’ turntables (Stanton T.80 Direct Drives for $600). It is crazy to think that I have only been doing this for a little under 4 years.

It was my then girlfriend Vanessa who got me into the realm of raving/DJ’ing. We met during her frosh week and the start of my second year at uni, September 6th 2006, to be precise. Shortly after, she brought me to my first rave. This little fact is key as I spent my high-school years being a total nerd, and even my first year of uni was quite quiet...

After that first rave, I was hooked for life. Boy did everything seem to change quickly, for the better mind you. I saw my first ever live performance, my first turntablism set, my first DJ’set and I became enamoured rapidly. One day Vanessa mentioned that she really wanted to be a DJ and learn how to use all the gear. Seeing as we were on the same page, I went out and bought what I could. Initially I played, simply to help Vanessa learn and practice. I would pick up new tricks and bring them home where we would try them together. I thought the best way to help her, would be to learn it all myself!

Believe it or not, before I even considered gracing the stage it was my goal to throw Toronto’s best free and paid events. It all started out in Vanessa’s residence room at U of T where we came up with the name “Uberave” and planned out 8 future events to bring Hardcore a new image in Toronto. After some very successful events and meeting alot of new people, Vanessa and I decided that a collaboration of various companies would be a far better approach to putting on events and reaching a wider audience. About 6 months before I became Dingokiller, the Triforce was born. A collaboration between Uberave/Newmindspace/Rothko Institute. 2007 would forever be known for some of the most innovative and nostalgic events to hit since the pre iDance days.

Somewhere down the line I got extremely interested in pursuing the hobby further and outgrew my equipment. I purchased a set of Technic 1200’s and 2 Pioneer CDJ 400’s along with a Korg ZERO 4 Mixer. Ever since, I have been constantly reinvesting in more advanced and special gear (effects boxes, digital mixers, vocoders, samplers, etc...). Despite parting ways in April of 2010 after we both graduated from university, I must sincerely thank Vanessa for being the catalyst for all this. I wish her nothing but the best in the future.

As of June 2010, I have produced over 20 edits/mashups, a hand-full of original tracks, and about 5 DJ mixes. I am very proud of the material and hope that I have the chance to continue doing it for a long time.

Although this website does not reflect it, I created an alter-ego in 2009 as a Stormtrooper named “TK-8817”, I shifted all of my funky breaks / Experimental work to this moniker and have been taking bookings under both of my aliases ever since.

Most recently, after my graduation from university, I accepted a position as a telecom engineer which has me travelling around the globe rolling out cellular infrastructure in emerging markets. I am hoping that this will be a great way to bring my sound to new places world wide, heres to the future!
