How To Make A Track

Below you will find all the information you need to understand how I go from idea to full scale release.

Where do all the ideas to put songs together come from?
I work on mixing tracks together every day and while doing so, I try the craziest combinations I can think of in hopes of finding a gem. Although, I must admit its not all luck and chance. My computer science background and formal musical training has given me the ability to know a few things beforehand.
I go through all of my tracks and label them by Key, this allows me to put tracks together that will sound “pleasing” to the ears when put together. I also subdivide my entire library into genres and then by accapella/instrumental/full release.

What is the first step to making the hottest re-edit?
I start out by picking the genre that the song will fall under, this is based on what the underlying or predominant track will be. This crucial first step is also what decides the type of samples and other tracks I will be layering over top. I start by playing the first track on repeat in my CDJ and attacking it with my other 3 decks in an attempt to brute force finding things that work. I will usually have a CDJ dedicated to a specific task.
CDJ One) Playing Underlying track on repeat
CDJ Two) Used to play back samples and loop samples over a period of time
CDJ Three) Used for layering instrumentals or other songs on top of the original
CDJ Four) Scratching and playing 2nd copy of 1st track to extend or re-play a key part of the song.

Some of your releases seem unpolished and not 100% Club worthy..... Why?
If you hear small issues with tempo or static it is likely due to making these tracks with turntables and recording each layer one at a time. I record Original track + 1 sample. then burn that track and play it and mix/record the next track/sample. Thus there is wobble and absolute pitch issues. All my loops are caught and made live with the CDJ's and mixer so they are not always perfect (you can only click buttons so fast) + My beatmatching is damn good but its not 100% (Some of these tracks vary between 90BPM & 180BPM). I think I might need to move to some prodcution software and hardware soon so I can make my releases mint and club worthy.
